General

What is Relivio?
Relivio brings your old photos back to life. Add color to black & white images, create motion videos where faces blink and heads turn, or save memories as Live Photos. AI does the work—your originals stay safe.
What platforms does Relivio support?
Relivio is available on iPhone (iOS 26.0+), Apple TV (tvOS 17.0+, viewing only), and Home Screen Widgets. All your photos sync automatically across devices via iCloud.
Do I need to sign in?
No sign-in is needed. Relivio works automatically using the Apple Account on your device. Your credits, photos, and settings sync across all devices linked to the same Apple Account.
Is my data private?
Yes. Photos are stored on your device and sync via your private iCloud account. Relivio cannot browse your photo library—we can only save photos to your Photos library.

Photo Processing

How does photo restoration work?
When you tap Restore, your photo uploads securely, AI analyzes it and adds realistic colors, then the result downloads to your device (usually about 45 seconds). Your original stays untouched.
What's the difference between Restore and Animate?
Restore adds realistic colors to black & white photos. Animate brings photos to life with blinking eyes and gentle movements. Each costs 1 credit. You can restore first, then animate for best results.
Can I process multiple photos at once?
Yes. Batch processing lets you process up to 10 photos at a time. Select photos, choose Restore or Animate, and all will be processed. Uses 1 credit per photo; failed photos are automatically refunded.
What happens if processing fails?
Your credit is automatically refunded. You'll see an error message and can tap to retry. Common causes include network issues—simply retry when you have a stable connection.

Saving & Sharing

How do I save photos to my Photos library?
From the photo detail view, swipe to the version you want, tap Save, and choose which version(s) to save. Photos are saved to the "Relivio" album in your Photos app.
What is a Live Photo?
A Live Photo is Apple's format that combines a still image with a short video. Relivio creates Live Photos from animated photos. Set your preferred animation format to Live Photo in Settings, then animated photos will save as Live Photos automatically.
Can I share directly from the app?
Yes. Tap the share button to share your original, restored, or animated (as MP4 video) photos. Share to Messages, social media, email, AirDrop, or any app that accepts photos and videos. Note: Live Photos can only be saved to your library, not shared via the share sheet.
What metadata is preserved when saving?
Original date taken, location (if present), and filename are preserved. Your colorized 1962 wedding photo still appears in your library where it belongs—not filed under today.

People & Family Tree

How does face tagging work?
Relivio finds faces in your photos entirely on your device using Apple Vision. Nothing is uploaded and no photo leaves your iPhone for face detection. When you tag a face with a name, that tag syncs privately through your own iCloud - only you can see it.
How do I tag or untag someone?
Open a photo and tap a detected face to give it a name, or pick an existing person. To remove a tag, tap the face again and choose to untag it. You are always in control - tags are yours to add or remove at any time, and your changes sync across your devices.
What is the family tree?
The family tree connects the people you tag into relationships - parents, children, partners, and more. It gives your photos a living structure, so a face becomes a person and a person becomes part of your family story. The tree stays private and syncs through your iCloud.
Can I import a GEDCOM file?
Yes. Relivio imports standard GEDCOM files (.ged), the common format used by genealogy apps and websites. Your existing family data - names, relationships, and dates - comes straight in, so you don't have to rebuild your tree by hand.
Do People features cost credits?
No. Everything in People is completely free - no credits are ever consumed. Tagging faces, building your family tree, and importing a GEDCOM file all cost nothing. Credits are only used for Photos AI restoration and animation.

Voice Stories

How do I record a voice story?
Tap the record button and speak the story behind a photo or a person - a memory, a name, a moment. Relivio captures your voice and keeps it with the memory it belongs to. Recording is free and there is no time pressure.
Can I import audio I already have?
Yes. You can bring in existing audio from the Files app, including recordings made in Voice Memos. Just choose the file and Relivio adds it as a story, ready to transcribe.
Which languages can be transcribed?
Transcription runs on-device and supports a wide range of languages. For Portuguese, Relivio asks at record time whether to use the European or Brazilian variant, so your transcript matches how you speak. If a language model isn't available on your device, you can still keep the recording.
How do the AI summaries work?
After a story is transcribed, Relivio can create a short summary of it entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded. On-device AI summaries need a supported device and language; where they aren't available, your full transcript is always kept.
Do my stories sync across devices?
Yes. Your recordings, transcripts, and summaries sync privately through your iCloud, so a story you record on your iPhone is there on your other devices too. Everything in Stories is free - no credits are ever consumed.

Sync & Multi-Device

How does iCloud sync work?
When signed in with Apple, photos sync automatically across all your Apple devices via your private iCloud storage. Delete a photo on one device and it's gone everywhere.
Do my photos sync to Apple TV?
Yes. Process photos on iPhone or iPad, then open Relivio on Apple TV (same Apple Account). Your restored photos appear automatically. Note: Processing requires iPhone or iPad.
What if I'm offline?
Offline you can view existing photos, add new ones, and browse your library. Internet is required for processing, downloading results, syncing, and purchasing credits.
How do I check my sync status?
Go to Settings > Sync to see current status, last sync time, pending items, and a link to iOS Settings if iCloud is disabled.

Credits & Payments

How do credits work?
Relivio uses a simple pay-per-use system for photo AI: 1 credit = 1 restoration, 1 credit = 1 animation. New users get 2 free credits to try it out. After that, buy credits when you need them - they never expire. Only Photos AI processing uses credits. People and Stories are completely free - no credits are ever consumed. There is no subscription, and credits are tied to your Apple Account and sync across all your devices.
What credit packages are available?
We offer several credit packs with volume savings. Tap the credits icon to see current pricing. Credits only apply to Photos AI - restoring and animating - while People and Stories features are always free.
Do credits expire?
No, credits never expire. Once purchased, they stay in your account until used and sync across all devices signed into the same Apple Account. And since People and Stories cost nothing, your credits are only ever spent on photo restoration and animation.
What if I don't have enough credits?
You'll see a prompt to buy more credits. Photo processing won't start until you have enough credits. For batch processing, you need enough credits for all selected photos. This only affects Photos AI - building your family tree and recording stories never requires credits.
Do People and Stories cost credits?
No. People and Stories are completely free - no credits are ever consumed. Tagging faces, building your family tree, importing a GEDCOM file, recording voice stories, transcribing them, and generating AI summaries all happen without spending a single credit. Credits are only used for Photos AI restoration and animation.

Home Screen Widgets

What widgets are available?
Small (1 photo), Medium (2 photos side-by-side), and Large (4-photo grid). All display restored photos with navigation arrows to browse your collection.
How do I add a Relivio widget?
Long-press your home screen, tap the + button, search for "Relivio", choose a size, tap Add Widget, and position it. You can add multiple widgets.
Can I navigate through photos on the widget?
Yes. Each widget has left/right arrows to browse through your photos, and tapping a photo opens it in the full app. Widget content refreshes periodically in the background.
Does the widget update automatically?
Yes. Widgets update when new photos are added, photos finish processing, or you navigate to a different photo. Updates happen in the background.

What can I do with Relivio on Apple TV?
Browse restored photos on the big screen, view in full-screen with swipe navigation, enjoy slideshow mode with Ken Burns effect, and watch animations play automatically.
How do photos appear on my TV?

Can I process photos on Apple TV?
No, Apple TV is for viewing only. Process photos on iPhone or iPad, and results automatically sync to Apple TV.
What is slideshow mode?
Slideshow creates an ambient display with auto-advancing photos, Ken Burns effect (gentle pan and zoom), shuffle option, and full-screen presentation. Perfect for family gatherings.

How do I restore photos from the Photos app?
Open a photo in Photos, tap Share, select Relivio, choose Restore or Animate. Processing starts immediately—the fastest way without opening Relivio first.
Can I process multiple photos from the share sheet?
Yes. Select up to 10 photos in Photos, tap Share > Relivio, choose your action, preview and edit your selection, then confirm to start processing.
What is the 'Add to Relivio' action?
"Add to Relivio" imports photos without processing. No credits used—photos are added to your library for processing later.
